水曜日のクラスの陽子さんが、味噌作りを習ってきたので、一緒に英語表現にトライしてみました。
How to make miso
I made miso paste for the first time.
I will explain how to make miso paste. The ingredients of the miso paste are soybeans, salt, rice koji and barely koji.
1 First, boil soybeans and cool them with fan and mix them with other ingredients by hand
2 Form the mixture into 16 tennis-boll-sized pieces dumplings and remove air from them by throwing them into a container.
3 Smooth them and wrap them in plastic wrap and put the lid on the container.
4 It takes three months to ferment it.
I’ll expect to eat miso soup by this miso paste next year.

昨日、レッスンで、「speak,talkの違い」は何という質問がありました。
この違いはこの例で説明するとわかりやすいようです。
例）He and his wife spoke sometimes, but seldom talked.
speakは、演説をするや、講演をすると言う意味があるように、会話するというより、大勢の人に向かってしゃべるという感じです。
その一方で、talkは会話する聞き手が必要で、より日常的な場面で使われるようです。
それをわかってこの文を読むと、意味がわかりますね。
まるで、離婚寸前の夫婦の様子が見えてきます。
tellとsayは、speakやtalkと比べて、話すことより、話す内容を重視します。

今日のレッスンの中で２つばかり？？が出てきました。
① whatのカードの中で「この鳥たちは何ですか？」（ちょっと変な日本語ですが）
これを英語で→ What birds are these?
とも言えるのではないか。
調べてみると、これはやはり無理なようです。
聞いているのは「なに？」ということなので、やはり、
What are these birds?
とないますね。
②もう一つ。動物の子供はなんていうのかな？
cub : (きつね、トラなどの）子。オオカミの子→ a wolf cub ヒグマの子 → a brown bear cub
というみたいです。
ちなみに英英でひくと
cub: the young of a fox,bear, lion, or other carnivorous animal
子犬はpuppy
cubといえば、魔法使いサリーちゃんの弟の名前は「カブ」でしたね。
ひょっとひて、これからきてるのかも！
